Marketing for a Virtual Business

Virtual Marketing

If you plan to start a virtual business in Southern Oregon, or anywhere else in the country, then you should have a marketing plan once your website goes live.  If you have time, you can even start a marketing campaign before your website is live to pique interest.

  1. Get used to social media marketing efforts. Social media is the best friend of a virtual business.  Whether you offer a service or a product, a web-based or home-based business needs an opportunity to have an audience.  Spend time doing some research on the audience you want to reach so that you can find them easily.
  2. Writing is a wonderful way to get the word out about what you know and what you do. Write a blog or an eBook.  You can even feature your eBook on your blog!  Include useful information for your potential clients, so they remember who you are.
  3. Networking is one of the best ways to get other business owners to be a part of your virtual team. You can attend networking events that are local to your business, large celebrations with thousands, or a
virtual marketing conference to promote your business.
  4. The best way to make sure people will remember who you are is exceptional customer service. Being quick to answer and take care of each person that has a concern is incredibly essential for complimentary reviews.  Reviews and reputation are the fuel for any virtual business.  Customer service is the best way to grow quickly and even go viral because of how you respond to your customers with complaints.
  5. Customer retention is just as necessary as customer service. To hold on to your current customers, make sure they are happy.  Consider discounts, contests, customer appreciation discounts, and thank you notes!  Pamper the customers that are loyal and regularly send you referrals.

Running a virtual business isn’t much different from a brick and mortar business.  Keep your customers happy and know who your audience is and what they want to know.
